Selichot: Preparing the Soul for the Yamim Noraim

We yearn for the divine just as the divine yearns to find us–simultaneous quests guided by the soulful, plaintive music of Piyut.. For approximately 1,500 years, Sephardi Jews have gathered for the 40 days leading through Rosh Hashana, and up to Yom Kippur, to sing and pray in community. Our 4-gathering series will engage in a spiritual quest to personal essence and elevation through the ancient tunes bred and grown in the rich and complex environments of the Middle east and the Maghreb (N. Africa), melodies which often crossed boundaries of faith and race, uniting humanity in the quest for a sublime existence.

Join Rabbi Haim Ovadia, Rabbi Roly Matalon and musician Dan Nadel for a special series that will guide you spiritually and musically to the High Holidays.

Location: B'nai Jeshurun Synagogue: 270 West 89th St

Registration: The event is free of charge. Please rsvp: office@psjc.org
